Planning a wedding in Switzerland? I am a British Discjockey based in Switzerland with plenty of experience as a wedding disc jockey. My mobile disco is also available for company parties and private events like birthdays, etc.
It all started on Thursday 15th Dezember when Herr Meyer from the Regina Hotel, Wengen urgently needed a DJ for a party of French guests.
I worked on Friday in Tao’s Restaurant, Zurich for ENRC Marketing. The managing director had met me at a disco earlier in the year and asked me to come ands work at the company’s Christmas party. You can hire out a special room with bar (under their nightclub) at Taos for your party. It’s a great place to celebrate with excellent food in the restaurant before partying all night next door. The club can organize a DJ but I heard that he’s not so good for private parties where a DJ has to play a good mixture of music.
On Saturday I was in Grindelwald playing music at the Belvedere Hotel’s Jubileum’s Party. A good collection of old and young guests from Switzerland, Germany, England, France and Russia.

A return to ABB for their annual Christmas party. I played a good mixture of music as the guests enjoyed their food and played some games and was ready to play the latest hits at 9 p.m. when the the younger guests wanted to dance. They were joined on the dancefloor by some older guests and I mixed the music up with the latest top 20 hits and party music from the 60′s, 70′s and 80′s. Finished at midnight.
It’s very important to have a DJ with the experience to work 9 hours and to have the equipment like radio microphones, spotlights, etc. I had two small speakers at the back of the room so that everyone could hear the music and the speeches and you can see people in the back dancing to the music! Two dancefloors!
For the second time I was asked to work for this International company based in Zurich. The party was in the northern part of the city close to the airport and held in a restaurant attached to an indoor swimming pool Restaurant & Bad Nota Bene was the venue and they did an excellent job with the buffet. The guests were great and I had little problerm in getting them to dance on a Wednesday evening after work:

I returned to the GIESSEREI (Birchstrasse 108, 8050 Zürich-Oerlikon), in October for the wedding party of Nadine und Marcel. There were over 60 guests consisting of family and friends from Switzerland and Germany. The wedding couple informed me beforehand that they would like rock music and sent me an e-mail with some suggestions.
Die Giesserei is an old factory in the northern part of Zurich. It’s an ideal place for a party. There is a long, private bar for yours and the the food is excellent and the staff are very friendly.
Nadine and Marcel’s party was on a Saturday and I had another party on the following Monday.
This was an “end of season” staff party for the Belvedere Hotel in Grindelwald. It was a different music style to the wedding with the staff coming from all over Europe. I found yself playing German, English, Spanish, French and Swiss music.
It was a big success and I was booked for the hotel’s Gala Dinner in December.
Barbara und Martin’s wedding celebration was on Saturday, 1st October, 2011. The venue was the ancient castle in thee Swiss mountainside village of Leuk in the picturesque county of Wallis. Responsible for the catering was Michel Villa und das Casa Villa Team (strongly recommend).

Claudia und Jean-Rico cebrated their wedding on Saturday 17th September in the Belvédère Hotel in Spiez, Switzerland. This is a great location for any wedding party and I recommend anyone to visit this hotel when looking around the Bernere Oberland for suitable locations. It’s not in the centre of Spiez but in the old area with quaint streets. Check out the gardens and the fantastic view over the bay to the castle. There’s a large garden for the Apero. The hotel manager and staff are very helpful and the place has a great atmosphere.
How can a DJ with little experience work at an important function like a wedding party?
The evening never goes to plan despite all the discussions beforehand. Guests have surprises!
It’s good to remember that you and your guests will be in the restaurant for several hours. That’s a lot of music and it has be suitable for almost everyone. There can be no excuses for a bad show that ruins your wedding party.
A friend told me of DJ who used a computer at a company party and it crashed after 30 minutes. No music for the rest of the evening and the company have contacted their lawyer.
Be prepared! I always come with a wide variety of music even though I have had telephone conversations about the music style. In my car are extra cables to connect the guest’s laptop to my mobile disco; radio microphones, extra mixer board, cd player and an intimate light show.
I also have extra speakers for the back of the room which are necessary for long or L-shaped rooms and large parties.
